This bread is perfect fresh out of the oven or over the next few days (trust me, it won’t last longer than a few days!). With craggy craters akin to English Muffins, it makes the perfect bread for a slice of toast, and all those little craters hold the melted butter just right.
When I first started making homemade bread, it seemed like a really complicated and daunting event (yeah, it felt like an event!). I had seen so many people circulating my social media who seemed to have bread baking all figured out.

I began my bread making journey by using my mom’s old bread machine. I loved how easy making bread in a bread machine was but I wanted more options. I came across an English Muffin style bread online but wanted to make some changes here and there to suit my family’s need. And here you have it..

This simple no knead bread will stay fresh for a day or two if it’s sealed in an airtight food storage container and kept at room temperature. From scratch recipes don’t last as long as commercial loaves.
I usually slice my bread, then store in the fridge. It only ever lasts 3-4 days in our house!
For longer storage wrap it securely in plastic wrap, then aluminum foil (or put it in a freezer container) and freeze for up to 3 months.
Easy No Knead Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups All Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoon Yeast
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- ¼ cup Warm Water
- 2 tsp Sea Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
- 2 ¼ cups Warm Milk
- Butter, Steel Cut Oats, & Maple Syrup for greasing/dusting/coating
Directions
- Mix the yeast, sugar, and water. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, stir the salt, baking soda, and flour together.
- Add the milk and one cup of the flour to the yeast mixture.
- Blend well.
- Add the remaining flour or enough to give you a soft goopy dough and beat.
- You should have a very soft, goopy dough. This is very important for the desired finished product!
- Grease 2 loaf pans with butter and dust with steel cut oats. Spoon the dough into the 2 loaf pans.
- Set aside in a warm place until the batter has doubled in size and is at the top of the pans, or a little above (about 45 minutes).
- Preheat oven to 425F.
- Drizzle tops of loaves with maple syrup and use a brush to coat the top. Dust the tops with steel cut oats.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Cool and slice.
