Simple Little Moments

Quick and Easy Homemade Granola

This might be my new favorite recipe. Seriously!

One of my breakfast or snack staples is a yogurt parfait. I love them loaded up with granola, berries, peanut butter, and of course a little yogurt ;)

Recently at the grocery store, my husband was about to grab the granola we usually get until we actually noticed the price. The bag had increased in price and was now $11.99 + tax! We were shocked and quickly realized how much money we had been wasting on a product that we probably could make at home.

perfectly crunchy

I had really been been procrastinating actually trying to make homemade granola; I don't know why but I felt reluctant and couldn't imagine it ever being as good as the store bought stuff. Boy, was I wrong!

This quick and easy homemade granola turned out perfectly crunchy and not too sweet. It's excellent on it's own as a snack, in some yogurt (my favorite way to eat it!) or have it as a bowl of cereal. The options are endless!

this recipe was so easy!

By the way, the link for the original recipe is here and I'll be sharing with you my personal spin on the recipe in this post. There are several changes I made to the original recipe.

Ingredients for Quick and Easy Homemade Granola

  • 3 cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup chopped nuts (I used salted mixed nuts)

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1/3 cup maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp vanilla

  • Optional add-ons: cinnamon, raisins, chocolate chips, chia seeds, or whatever you want!

Step 1: Let’s Get Started

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 and line a baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, add your oats & chopped nuts and stir them together.

  3. In a small, microwave safe dish, add your olive oil and microwave to warm (about 30 seconds). Add your maple syrup, whisk them together, and microwave them again until they are very warm (about another 30-60 seconds). Add your vanilla and whisk it in.

  4. Pour your wet ingredients over your dry ingredients, and stir until all of your oats and nuts are covered entirely.

  5. Pour granola onto the pan and spread it out into one, thin, even layer. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or till the edges are just starting to gain a bit of color. The granola will get crunchy as it cools.

  6. Let granola cool entirely, before breaking it up into pieces.

  7. ENJOY!

Recipe notes:

  • Store in an air tight container on the counter (lasts several months)

  • You can substitute the maple syrup for honey instead

  • You can substitute the olive oil for coconut oil if you prefer the taste

  • Depending on the age of your oven, you may need to bake it longer! I had to bake mine for about 45 minutes since my oven is very old.

The Best Quick & Easy Homemade Granola

I truly couldn't believe how easy this granola was to make. It only takes a few minutes to prep, and is very low maintenance to bake. It's my goal to continue to make this recipe and keep modifying it by adding different fun ingredients to make it interesting!

I'd love to know if you tried this recipe so be sure to leave a comment!
